A Maui Community Correctional Center inmate who escaped is now in police custody, according to the Department of Public Safety.
At around noon on Oct. 28, Kauhaahaa walked away from a work line in the Waikapu area.
Maui police and sheriffs were notified. Kauhaahaa was in the work furlough program. He was serving five years for burglary and theft.
An escape charge will be added to his record. His next parole hearing was scheduled for Feb. 28, 2014.
