HONOLULU -

The man accused in a deadly stabbing in Mapunapuna made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Herwin Magbulos, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Court documents say officers were called to the Barcelona Laundromat on Factory Street in Kalihi for a possible murder suspect at around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday.

A witness told police he saw Magbulos hit 59-year-old Darryle Wong in the chest across from 2669 Kilihau Street at around 6:15 a.m.  When Wong stood up, a witness saw stab wounds through the front and back of his shirt and a knife was seen in Magbulos' hand.

Wong shouted, "Irwin!" after the stabbing, according to court documents.

Another witness says he was under the H-1 Freeway viaduct to visit Wong when he heard screaming.  He saw Magbulos come out with two knives in his hands.  At least two witnesses heard Magbulos say, "Let him die."

The witness said that one of the knives was 10-inches-long and the other knife was about 6-inches-long.

Magbulos is being held on $150,000 bail.  A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday at District Court.
