A Big Island father has filed a lawsuit against Pahoa High and Intermediate School, the Department of Education, and the state. He claims his son was assaulted by a teacher.
According to the Hawaii Tribune Herald, the suit was filed Friday in Hilo Court. It alleges that in September of 2011, a seventh grade boy was struck in the head with by a teacher, and that staff members did not inform the boys father of the incident.
Attorneys for the family say they've exhausted all options to find a resolution on the matter. The alleged victim has since been transferred to a mainland school.
The suit seeks unspecified damages.
