A man found guilty of murdering a Waianae High School teacher was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Tittleman Fauatea was found guilty of second-degree murder in March for the 2009 death of Asa Yamashita.
The apparently unprovoked stabbing happened as the 43-year-old teacher was eating a bowl of noodles while sitting on a bench at the Ewa Town Center.
Fauatea underwent several mental fitness exams before being found fit to stand trial.
The paroling authority will determine the minimum time Fauatea must serve before becoming eligible for parole.
