HONOLULU -

Hawaii's Postal Service is getting some major recognition from the federal government.

They're called the Green Team at the Post Office.  This team of dedicated workers are recycling and winning awards.

When it comes to recycling, these guys know it all.

The Green Team, consisting of maintenance staff to managers and specialists helped the Honolulu Processing and Distribution Center recycle more than 70 percent of its waste last year.

The Environmental Protection Agency named Hawaii the winner of the Federal Green Challenge Program in the leadership category.

And it truly is a team effort, with neighbor island Post Offices shipping their recyclables to this plant in Honolulu, which increased its recycling rate by nearly 7 percent in just one year.
