L&L Hawaiian Barbecue says it raised $40,000 for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
L&L collected donations from its nearly 200 locations worldwide within one week last month.
Also, a fundraising event was held at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue on Ke'eaumoku Street in partnership with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, on Saturday, Nov. 16 where 100 percent of the sales profits were donated to the typhoon relief efforts.
The amount was matched dollar for dollar by the L&L Foundation. All donations collected will be given to the Filipino Community Center to support relief efforts in wake of Typhoon Haiyan.
The L&L Foundation was started by Eddie Flores Jr., president and CEO of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. It is the charitable arm of Flores' company that helps various causes in the community.
