University of Hawaii Manoa is partnering with the Library of Congress for a tribute to the late Senator Daniel Inouye.
UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple and Mark Sweeney of the Library of Congress signed the memorandum of Understanding in a ceremony at Manoa Monday.
UH will house, preserve and organize the late Senator's Congressional Papers. The two organizations will share digitized documents and make them available for everyone from school kids to scholars.
"There's so much we can learn about the way he approached life," said Irene Hirano Inouye of the Daniel K. Inouye Institute. "The way he believed Hawaii and its history had to be part of U.S. history and experience, and I think that's why this partnership means a great deal to us."
