The Koko Head Shooting Complex could open as soon as Friday, according to city officials.
On Thursday, the city will be moving sand and dirt to rebuild and fortify the backstops behind the targets. The movement will put dust in the air and city officials want to make sure the dust settles and the air at the range is safe.
The city has been testing the range all week and will continue to monitor air quality. Officials are worried about the possibility of lead in the air from ammunition.
The air will be checked after Thursday's work and a decision will be made on Friday.
