KALIHIWAI, Hawaii -

The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge is looking to bring the latest technology in predator proof fencing to Kauai.

The organization wants to create a seven-acre refuge area for native plant and animal communities. Experts say it would enhance existing seabird colonies by keeping away predators like cats, dogs, rats and mice. Experts also say this type of fencing work has been successful on Oahu and in New Zealand.
