Keawakapu Beach in Kihei was closed Friday after a female was bitten by a shark, according to Maui County Parks & Recreation Department officials.
It happened at around 1:20 p.m. There is no word on the condition of the bite victim, except that the wound not life-threatening.
The shoreline, from the Kihei Boat Ramp to the Four Seasons Resort, will be closed at least until noon Saturday.
This was the seventh shark bite in waters off Maui this year and the 12th shark bite in the state in 2013.
