Kaneohe house fire cause 'undetermined'
Case closed until new information comes to light
Honolulu Fire Department investigators have concluded their investigation of the fire on Kalenakai Place in Kaneohe on July 25 and have classified the cause of the fire as undetermined.
The undetermined classification of a fire means that the fire investigator analyzed all possible causes of the fire but there is insufficient information to identify any one specific cause. In addition, there is insufficient information to substantially eliminate some or all of the other possible causes. The case is now closed, and can be reopened if there were introduction or discovery of new information about the fire.
Fire investigators say the fire began in a second floor bedroom just before 2 a.m. Flames were under control by 2:17 a.m.
Damaged was estimated at $220,000.
An woman in her 60s suffered serious, non-life threatening burns while trying to fight the fire prior to her escape from the burning home. Another woman at home on the first floor when the fire broke out escaped unharmed.
