Kaka'ako Waterfront Park is being transformed into a huge party venue for New Year's Eve.
Already, the LED Ferris wheel has been set up along with other carnival games and activities.
The nearly 50 food trucks will move in on Tuesday afternoon. Crews are still busy setting up three stages where DJs and live bands will perform.
The New Year's Eve Hawaii event attracted between 10,000 and 12,000 last year. Organizers say they learned a lot from that big party and promised this year there will be more room and more areas for everyone to enjoy.
"A lot of families are asking of the inside area is safe," said party co-producer Theresa Schubert. "We just want the public to know we have precautionary measures. We have over 70 paid private security. Staff 60 strong. So, we have a lot of people here."
The event called the Party of the Year kicks off at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve with the music starting up at 7 p.m. There will be fireworks launched each hour starting at 9 p.m.
After ringing in the New Year, the celebration will last until 1 a.m.
