Outage caused by problem with underground cable

KAILUA, Hawaii -

Hawaiian Electric crews have completed restoring power in Lanikai early Thursday.

HECO says the outage was caused by a problem with an underground cable.

Approximately 1,000 customers were affected by the outage, which started at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Troubleshooters restored power to about 900 customers by 8:30 p.m.

Power was restored to the remainjng 100 customers at approximately 12:30 a.m. Thursday after crews completed repairs to the underground cable, according to HECO.

Hawaiian Electric thanks its customers for the patience and understanding.
