HONOLULU -

The Honolulu medical examiner has released the identities of two people who died in a crash on the Pali Highway early Sunday morning.

The victims were identified as 33-year-old Mark Garcia of Kailua and 13-year-old Kamalani Kalama of Kailua.

Autopsies were scheduled to be performed on Monday.

Police say Garcia was the driver of the truck that was heading to Kailua when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree near the Honolulu side of the Nuuanu-Pali tunnels at around 12:25 a.m.

A second teenage girl was hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
