A 90-year-old man died Tuesday from injuries he sustained when a storage shed on his property collapsed on him, according to Big Island police.
He was identified as Walter K. Sugi of a Honaunau address.
Police determined that Sugi had crawled under the shed to retrieve an item when the building fell on him. Rescue personnel responded and extracted Sugi.
He was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m.
The case is classified as a coroner’s inquest. Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
