Hiker critically injured near Sea Life Park

Man, 27, injured on trail known as Makapu'u Tom-Tom trail

Emergency Medical Services officials say a 27-year-old man hiking near Sea Life Park was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday.

Paramedics responded to the area responded to the area just before 12:15 p.m.

Fire officials say the man was hiking on a trail known as the Makapu'u Tom-Tom trail.  Just after noon, hikers found a man lying motionless about 75 yards below the trail.

The Tom Tom trail starts at the Makapu'u lookout and traverses the ridge line before ending in Waimanalo.

The man was taken off of the trail by helicopter and transported to EMS crews.  He was conscious when he was flown the the landing area across from Sea Life Park.

A fire official says the man suffered multiple traumatic injuries.  Exactly how the man got his injuries is unclear.
