HONOLULU -

The National Weather Service says a high surf advisory remains in effect for all south-facing shores in the state until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Although surf heights are declining, forecasters say the big waves will remain near advisory level into Wednesday.

Surf heights measure at 7-to-11-feet-tall measuring the front of the wave.  That is expected to drop to 6-to-9-feet-high on Tuesday.

Expect large breaking waves and strong currents which will make swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beach goers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by Ocean Safety officials and exercise caution.

Boaters should expect recreational surfers utilizing harbor channels to access surfing areas.
