The United States House of Representatives recognized a homegrown Hawaii hero on the floor of the nation's capitol.
Marine Corp Staff Sergeant Allan Kellogg Junior was one of 79 living Medal of Honor recipients honored.
Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard says Kellogg was leading his unit when an enemy grenade came near them. Kellogg then grabbed the grenade, forced it deep into the mud, and then covered it with his body to protect his brothers.
He suffered multiple injuries to his chest and right shoulder, but still managed to help his unit evacuate.
