H-3 Freeway motorcycle victim identified

Medical examiner: Ferguson, 23, of Kailua died of head injuries

 UPDATED 2:10 PM HST Apr 29, 2013

The Honolulu medical examiner has identified the 23-year-old man who died in the motorcycle crash on the H-3 Freeway Sunday afternoon.

The medical examiner says Colin Ferguson of Kailua died of head injuries.

Police say Ferguson lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guard rail at around 12:05 p.m.

A second motorcycle was with Ferguson, but did not stop, according to an independent witness.  Police say the second motorcycle was not involved in the crash.

Officers shut down the H-3 Freeway heading towards Kaneohe at the Kamehameha Highway junction for about two hours while investigating the crash.

Investigators say speed was a factor in the crash.

This was the 24th traffic fatality on Oahu compared with 21 at this time last year.
