If you've gotten stuck in gridlock on the H-1 near Pearl City because of nightly roadwork then prepare for delays the rest of the year.
The Department of Transportation says westbound lane closures will continue until January.
That's the estimated completion date for that side of the freeway.
DOT crews will then work on the eastbound lanes from 6 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Officials say they've found two ways to help improve the flow traffic.
"We'll be doing a restriping project from the Aiea pedestrian overpass all the way to the Pearl City exit," said DOT spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter. "So that will be for use in the afternoon and that will add an extra lane going westbound."
The DOT will also widen the viaduct between Pearl City and Waipahu to add another extra lane for drivers.
At least two lanes of the H-1 will remain open during the construction.
