Gov. Neil Abercrombie announced his nominations for the University of Hawaii Board of Regents.
The nominees revealed Thursday include Jeffrey S. Portnoy, Dr. Lee Putnam, Michelle Asprer Tagorda and Stanford B.C. Yuen.
“With strong leadership and experience in their respective areas of expertise, I am confident that these nominees will drive the University of Hawaii to the next level,” Gov. Abercrombie said. “They are all very knowledgeable of the UH System and understand that its success is important for the entire state.”
The nominations now move to the state Senate for confirmation. If confirmed, each will take their seat on Jul. 1.
The Governor’s nominees were selected from a list of nominations provided to the Governor by the Candidate Advisory Council.
This announcement comes as the University of Hawaii is advertising for a new president.
Print and online ads will soon appear in newspapers both in Hawaii and across the nation. The Board of Regents presidential selection committee has been gathering suggestions and input on the position for the past six months.
Chief Information Officer David Lassner has been serving as interim president after MRC Greenwood. Those interested in applying or nominating candidates may email firstname.lastname@example.org.
