boost from a television and Broadway star. Good evening, I'm Pamela Young. Glee's Matthew Morrison headlined tonight's Equality Gala at Aloha Tower Marketplace. It's a yearly celebration and fundraiser for the Equality Hawaii Foundation, a non-profit that promotes equal rights for the state's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Matthew Morrison: "I WAS SO BLOWN AWAY ACTUALLY WHEN I HEARD THAT HAWAII DIDN'T HAVE, YOU KNOW, MARRIAGE EQUALITY LIKE, THAT GAY PEOPLE COULDN'T GET MARRIED HERE. CAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THE STATES, I'VE BEEN COMING HERE SINCE I WAS A CHILD, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN SO OPEN AND SO UNITED." Rep. Chris Lee: "I THINK THIS YEAR IN PARTICULAR, THERE'S A HUGE EMPHASIS, BECAUSE MARRIAGE EQUALITY IS GOING TO BE UP FOR A VOTE REALLY SOON AND YOU'RE SEEING A TON OF PEOPLE COME OUT, WHO'VE NEVER COME OUT BEFORE. I THINK THIS IS REALLY ABOUT THE MOMENTUM THAT WERE FEELING ACROSS THE STATE." The state legislature will hold a special session on same-sex marriage beginning October 28th.
