A fundraiser will be held in Hilo Saturday to raise money to send a Pop Warner football team to the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Florida next weekend.
The Panaewa Alii team earned the right to play in to the game with a victory earlier this month.
The jubilation of the big win was quickly doused, however, when it was learned that tens of thousands of dollars in a league account were missing.
A league official says at least 13 musical groups are playing in a concert from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hilo Civic Auditorium. There is a $5 fee plus a donation at the door.
The entertainment lineup includes Sudden Rush, Ryan Hiraoka, Steppas feat. Braddah Waltah, Positive Motion, Times Five, Merahi (Tahitian Revue), The Voices feat. Irie Love, Darlene Ahuna, Kuahiwis, Kawaimaluhia, No'eau St. Band, Keolanui, and the Pomai Serenaders.
The team has already raised about a third of the $100,000 it needs. A criminal investigation into the missing money is underway.
