Beretania Florist and most other local flower shops are putting the petals to the metal today. They are handling the Valentine's Day rush for thousands of people receiving their orders today, but some customers didn't get what they expected.

"I think it happens on a major holiday because florists get overwhelmed and run out of things. It disappoints the customer. We don't do that here. If we take your order we are going to make sure we fill it," said Jane Nakamoto, with Beretania Florist.
But Debby Maddocks said all FTD delivered for her was disappointment.
"I placed the order on Tuesday afternoon at noon with FTD and received a confirmation. At that point I thought that all was well with my order and had no idea there were any complications," said Maddocks.
Until Valentine's Day morning just before 8 a.m. she received an email. It was a notification that her thoughtful gift would not get delivered. Maddocks thought it was a scam or a joke.
"Oh my God I can't believe this is actually happening, this isn't for real," said Maddocks.
The email read: "Despite our best efforts due to an exceptionally high seasonal demand we regret we are unable to fill your order as requested."
Maddocks scrambled to reach out to other florists but it was too late.
"I called just about every florist in Honolulu and several of the people acknowledged the fact that FTD overloaded themselves," said Maddocks.
FTD did say it could deliver the flowers on the 18th. The company offered her a $10 credit and $20 certificate on her next order, but she declined that.
We tried to reach FTD, but had trouble doing so.
