Maui County fire officials say lacerations suffered by a woman at a Kihei beach is most likely not a shark bite.
Fire crews were called to Cove Park just before 9 a.m. Monday for a report of a shark bite.
A 66-year-old woman had two lacerations, about 2-inches in size, on her lower right leg.
After investigating, fire officials determined it was most likely not a shark bite. The woman declined transport to a hospital.
Fire officials say the woman was surfing and fell off her board when the incident happened. Lifeguards patrolled the beach, but did not find a shark.
