Fire destroys Pahoa home

Damage estimated at $90,000

PAHOA, Hawaii -

Big Island fire officials say a two-story home in Pahoa was destroyed by fire early Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to Lehua Road at around 12:30 a.m.

Fire officials say the home with four bedrooms and four bathrooms was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

The flames were extinguished by 2:45 a.m.

The American Red Cross is helping the homeowners with food, shelter and clothing, according to fire officials.

Damage was estimated at $90,000.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
