MAKAHA, Hawaii -

In Makaha, a fiery car crash left one dead and four others in serious condition.  All of them minors.

Honolulu police say it happened around 12:15 Saturday morning on Farrington Highway near Makua Cave.   A white pick up truck carrying a dozen people was traveling on Farrington Highway when police say the driver lost control and crashed into rocks on the side of the road.   Shortly after, the truck burst into flames

Police Lieutenant Bobby Towne said, "When they [officers] got here most of the occupants were out and fleeting on foot and shortly thereafter the vehicle burst into flames.  Upon the fire crews extinguishing the flames of the vehicle, a body was discovered next to the vehicle."

Police say the one person killed was a passenger in the truck.  They are still trying to locate the driver.  Police say speed and alcohol may be factors in the crash.   A negligent homicide case has been opened.
