HONOLULU -

Christopher Medeiros' greiving girlfriend held back nothing, as she thrust her 3-month-old son in front of the killer who left him fatherless.

"You took my son's father away. You have no sympathy for him!" said Chanda Avilla. "I have to raise a kid on my own because of the choice you guys made. My son will never ever know what a father is. His first year, he was supposed to be christened and that will never ever happen. My son gonna ever hear his voice or feel his touch. You cannot even look at him!"

Chad Duran shot and killed Medeiros last September. The two were friends.

Duran pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting he brought a loaded gun to Medeiros' home. That gun went off during a dispute.

On Tuesday, Duran also faced the victim's mother.

"I know that you took my son away from me," said Girlty Medeiros. "What happened that night , I don't know and I'll never know. But, I do forgive you."

Duran choked up during his chance to speak.

"I never meant to hurt anybody and I'm sorry because I'm not a bad person," said Duran. "I know some has happened and somebody passed away and I am sorry from the bottom of my heart because I never meant any of that to happen."

Judge Randal Lee sentenced Duran to 20 years in prison. Duran was immediately taken away to serve time for a tragedy, which left two Waianae families heartbroken.
