KAPOLEI, Hawaii -

Honolulu police are investigating a deadly car crash that happened on Farrington Highway near Honokai Hale.

It happened Friday around 9 p.m., where a man in his 30s died.

Traffic investigators say the man was driving westbound on Farrington Highway when he hit a car also driving westbound.

The driver lost control, crossed the center median and was struck by a car driving eastbound, driven by a 50-year-old man.

Emergency Medical Services officials say the 50-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Farrington Highway was closed in the eastbound direction following the crash and led to a major traffic back up.

The highway was reopened just past midnight.

Police have ruled out speed as a factor, and now are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in this fatal crash.
