Big Island police say Highway 19, also known as Hawaii Belt Road, is closed in both directions Thursday afternoon due to a traffic accident that left one car overturned.
The announcement was made just after 2:30 p.m.
Police expect the road to be closed for at least an hour. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
At around 3:15 p.m., one lane was opened. Just before 3:45 p.m., all of the lanes were reopened.
Police say there were not life-threatening injuries.
