nothing on Dole Cannery, which created it's own Chocolate Factory today! Hundreds lined up for some SWEET deals to celebrate Hawaiian grown cacao at the 4th annual Chocolate Festival. With their chocolate passports in hand, people were able to taste a variety of chocolates from different local vendors. From milk chocolate bars, to a dark chocolate fountain... AND even candy inspired jewelry ... it was a chocoholics dream. Vendors say the tasting is fun, but educating the public is their goal. "I LOOK FORWARD TO TEACHING PEOPLE ABOUT THE PROCESS OF CHOCOLATE FROM BEAN-TO-BAR. AND JUST THE IDEA THAT CHOCOLATE, YOU KNOW, WE'RE USE TO CANDY AND A LOT OF TIME THERE'S A DISCONNECT BETWEEN WHERE THE CHOCOLATE IS GROWN, A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE ITS GROWN ON A TREE, IT'S AN AGRICULTRUAL CROP; ITS A REALLY HIGH QUALITY AGRICULTRUAL CROPPER." Along with chocolate inspired products and displays ... the crowd was entertained by hula performances through out the day.
