Honolulu police have opened two arson investigations after cars were apparently set on fire early Wednesday.
It happened at Stewart's Auto Service on Kawaiahao Street just before 2 a.m.
A witness says he saw two men with black hoodies in front of the gate of the business dumping gasoline and what appeared to be a flare that was dropped onto the fluid.
"I saw black smoke and glanced over and saw a fire at the gate area," said security guard Tom Barton. "I immediately called the fire department -- 911 -- then my supervisor."
Witnesses say they saw a vehicle go down Kawaiahao Street.
Two vehicles were damaged -- an Acura and a Scion. Fire crews were able to contain the fire within about 30 minutes, according to fire officials.
The second car fire was reported in the Pacific Heights area. Fire investigators say the car that was on fire matches the description of the vehicle that was seen on Kawaiahao Street.
