A Board of Water Supply contractor will be working on Beretania Street at the Ward Avenue intersection to connect a new waterline starting on Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

This nighttime construction work will close two lanes on the mauka side of Beretania Street near the Honolulu Museum of Art. As a result of this work, one mauka-bound and one makai-bound lane on Ward Avenue between Hotel Street and Kinau Street will also be closed.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible. Drivers traveling through the construction area are asked to abide by the posted traffic signs and to allow for additional travel time.

In an effort to minimize the impact to the community, the required installation work is being scheduled during non-peak water use times. This construction activity is part of the ongoing Water System Improvement Project on Ward Avenue from Kinau Street to Kapiolani Boulevard. When completed, this project will enhance water service to area residents and businesses by improving fire protection and reducing the likelihood of water main breaks.
