Big Island police have charged the man who was arrested last week in connection with a report of gunshots in Hilo on Sept. 30.
At 2:25 p.m. Saturday, 34-year-old Kevin Kuhia, who has no permanent address, was charged with first-degree reckless endangering, unauthorized control of a motor vehicle, ownership of a firearm prohibited and place to keep a firearm prohibited. His bail was set at $70,000.
He was held at the Hilo police cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday.
On the afternoon of Sept. 30, Hilo patrol officers responded to a report that a man had fired several rounds from a red Mazda Miata in front of a house on Elama Street in the Pana'ewa area.
On Thursday, police located the car and Kuhia in a vacant lot on Lehua Street in the Fern Acres subdivision in Puna. Kuhia was arrested and taken into custody while detectives continued the investigation.
