 UPDATED 1:37 PM HST Jan 08, 2013

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team will take on the Navy Commanders in a spirited exhibition softball game at Millican Field on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.

The Navy Commanders is a team comprised of commanders, commodores and commanding officers from units throughout Navy Region Hawaii, including Rear Adm. Frank Caldwell, Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet; Rear Adm. Frank Ponds, Commander Navy Region Hawaii; Capt. Brian Osgood, Commander Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard; and other Navy leaders.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team is comprised of competitive, athletic veterans and active duty servicemen who have lost limbs while serving their country.

The team includes individuals from around the country who have a variety of amputations of the arm, above knee, below knee, bilateral below knee, and foot.

The team's mission is to raise awareness, through exhibition and celebrity softball games, of the sacrifices and resilience of our military, and highlight their ability to rise to any challenge. They are on Oahu for a week of exhibition games at various bases and in the community.

Those with base access are welcome to attend and cheer on the Navy team and Wounded Warrior challengers. Bleacher seating at the field is limited, but lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome.
