Elderly woman dies in Liliha collision
Honolulu police said an 88-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car in Liliha Thursday morning.
The medical examiner's office identified the woman as Martha Miura of Honolulu.
The collision happened around 6 a.m. on Kuakini Street near Bachelot Street where there was no crosswalk.
The windshield on the driver's side was severely cracked and, according to police, Miura was found injured in the median.
She was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and later died.
Miura was known recently for winning the civic award at the I Love Liliha Festival 2009.
