Honolulu police say an 82-year-old woman was in critical condition Tuesday evening after she was hit by a vehicle in Pearl City.
It happened at 11:30 a.m. on Lehua Avenue.
Investigators say the woman was not in a marked crosswalk when she walked behind a silver sedan that was stopped.
The driver of a white Nissan Sentra hit the woman and pinned her into the silver sedan. The force of the crash sent the silver sedan into another vehicle.
The woman was originally hospitalized in serious condition, but it later changed to critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra, a 47-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent homicide in the first degree.
No one else was injured.
