Woman hospitalized after car wash accident
Honolulu police said a 74-year-old woman was in critical condition after she was pinned between two vehicles at a Honolulu car wash Tuesday.
It happened just before noon at the McKinley car wash on Kapiolani Boulevard.
Traffic investigators said the victim was standing near the back of her van, securing items in the trunk, when the driver of a black vehicle accelerated by mistake pinning the woman between the two cars.
"It is unusual, though, because it's not on a roadway," said Capt. Darren Izumo of the Honolulu Police Department. "So, to have critical injuries in basically a driveway is more unusual."
Paramedics took the woman to the Queen's Medical Center with extensive injuries to her legs.
Police said they did not arrest the driver and it does not appear the driver was drunk or speeding.
