HONOLULU -

The U.S. Marshals Service says U.S. Army soldier Shane E. Sanders, 37, was arrested without incident by the Hawaii Fugitive Task Force at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam AMC Passenger Terminal early Thursday morning.

On Oct, 31, the State of Georgia-Henry County issued an arrest warrant for Sanders for Child Molestation.  The allegations are based upon a complaint alleging Sanders engaged in an immoral and indecent act with a child under 16 years of age.  The incident occurred between May and October 2005 in Hampton, Ga.

The Hawaii Fugitive Task Force received information from the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force indicating Sanders is active duty in the U.S. Army stationed at Wheeler Army Airfield.  Sanders was returning from an overseas deployment to Afghanistan when deputies took him into custody at 12:40 a.m. Thursday.  Sanders was transported to the Honolulu Police Department main station where he will remain in custody pending his extradition to Henry, Ga.
