Shopping center has forced some vendors to be mobile. KITV 4's Cam Tran takes us to Ward Warehouse for opening day of the new "kaka'ako Farmers Market." When it comes to picking local papaya, dining on ono grinds and buying beautiful flowers- Oahu residents and shoppers now have a new venue. IN:3:42 WE ARE NOW KAKAAKO'S FARMERS MARKET. On its opening day the new Kaka'ako farmers market was bustling with shoppers. 19:30 A COUPLE OF PLACES WERE OUT OF WHAT I WANTED BUT THAT'S HOW IT IS WHEN YOU DON'T GET HERE THE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ESPECIALLY THE FIRST DAY OF RE- OPENING The new Kaka'ako Farmers Market was formerly the Ala Moana Farmers Market which shut down due to the construction on the Ewa side of the shopping center. WE FEEL THIS IS JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME, ALL THESE CONDOMINIUM WILL BE BUILT HERE SO PEOPLE CAN GET FOOD FROM THE NORTH SHORE AND ALL OVER THE ISLAND RIGHT HERE 4:08: Most of the 55 vendors were previous tenants who moved to the markets new location at Ward Warehouse. One of them includes Waialua Savory and Sweets known for their Rueben sandwiches. I THINK THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE VENDORS COMING IN STANDUP: 9:40 BOYAR SAYS SHE HOPES TO EXPAND THE KAKAAKO FARMERS MARKET IN THE FUTURE, THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO THE FARMER'S MARKET IS EMPTY, AND SHE SAYS HAD THE POTENTIAL TO HOLD AN ADDITIONAL 40 VENDORS. 9:50 . Boyar says the growth will come slowly. In fact for today's launch there is only new vendor- this booth which serves dimsum and shave ice. Until the new vendors come can expect on minor differences from the previous market.
