Good evening, I'm Paula Akana. Fire investigators now say a faulty electrical outlet is to blame... KITV4's Ashley Moser talked to neighbors and has their vivid accounts of this fire! Al 22:57 "I HEARD A COUPLE OF BOOM SOUNDS AND..." 22:58 Al 23:08 "NEXT THING I KNEW THERE WERE ABOUT 4 OTHER FIRETRUCKS AND THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS KIND OF BLOCKED." 23:13 Neighbors watched as flames engulfed this home on Lumi Place Sunday night. Fire officials say the call came in around 9 p-m...it was put 30 minutes later. But not before the it ripped through these windows... melting the screens right off. Fire investigators and clean-up crews spent the morning determining what's left in the charred rooms. Zack 18:05 "WE'LL DOCUMENT ALL THEIR NON-SALVAGEABLES TO THEIR SALVAGEABLES. AND THEN WHATEVER'S CHARRED THAT'S SALVAGEABLE WE CAN ICE BLAST AND WE DO REPAIRS FROM THEIR." 18:16 The say luckily the walls are made of cinderblock...whi ch helped contain flames indoors...preventing the trees outside from catching on fire. Standup Ashley 28:11 "YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE FIRE'S DAMAGES FROM MR. ANEUBER'S BACK YARD. HE SAYS THAT ANY OF TREES, THE DRY ONES AND THE BUSHES IF THEY CAUGHT ON FIRE...HE'S SURE HIS HOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN UP IN FLAMES AS WELL." 28:22 Al 24:00 "IF THE FIRE GOT THE TREE I'M SURE IT WOULD SPREAD TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT ON THE BORDER ON THE FENCE AREA." 24:07 The home is now surrounded by caution tape...windows: completely boarded up. Investigators tell us since the cause was an electrical outlet.. The case will be ruled accidental. Damage is estimated at 150-thousand dollars.
