Fire causes evacuation at Waikiki apartment
Residents at an Ala Wai Boulevard apartment building were awakened early Tuesday morning to a 2-alarm fire.
About 40 firefighters responded to the fire which started little after midnight at 2121 Ala Wai Boulevard in an apartment unit on the 26th floor.
Building residents were forced to evacuate.
Fire officials say no one was inside the unit at the time of the fire.
It is believed to be occupied by an out-of-state owner who stays in Hawaii part-time.
Fire crews were able to control the fire within 15 minutes and luckily there was no damage to any other units in the building.
No one was injured, according to fire officials. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
Damage was estimated at $50,000
