North shore homeowners whose homes have been heavily damaged by the pounding surf get some much needed help today. Volunteers from a local non profit as well as the city step in to help clear out the debris KITV-4's Cam Tran has the NEW information tonight on help for the homeowners before the next big swell rolls in. 38:56 nats of hammering This is the sound Kenneth Dombrowski has been waiting for days to hear... DOMBROWSKI IN:54:16 THESE GUYS COME OUT HERE AND SAVE ME A FEW DAYS WORK AND THAT IS A BLESSING Drombrowski is among a dozen homeowners along Rocky Point who have lost their backyards and decks to beach erosion along the north shore. 53:38 WE HAD A HUGE YARD, NOW WE'RE JUST TRYING TO STOP FROM LOSING OUR HOUSE NEXT DOOR AND IT SUCKS BECAUSE WE'RE THE ONLY ONES ON HERE WITH TWO PROEPRTIES AND ITS TWICE AS MUCH WORK AND TWICE AS SCARY. 53:51 Now the struggling homeowner is getting help in his battle against mother nature. Nats of hammering The non profit Team Rubicon which consists mostly of veterans volunteered their hammers, shovels and manpower. Amanda McDonald, Team Rubicon 47:59 THIS HOMEOWNER WAS TELLING US HE'S BEEN ASKING FOR DAYS HE'S WATCHED PEOPLE COME OUT LIKE TOURISTS AND SURFERS BUT NO ONE'S BEEN WILING TO HELP OUT OR LEND A HAND SO WE'RE HAPPY TO BE ALBE TO DO THAT OF RHIM 48:11 These volunteers dismantled the Dombrowski's deck and helped dig out an iconic palm tree he's trying to save. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THEM THEY'VE EVEN GONE AS FAR AS TRYING TO SAVE OUR TREE WHICH HAS BEEN ON OUR PROPERTY FOR THE LAST TWENTY YEARS 52:47 THEY ARE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT THEY SHOULD DO ME AND MY FAMILY ARE REALLY THANKFUL 52:54 In addition to volunteers, City and County of Honolulu workers also brought bulldozers to remove large debris along the shoreline.
