Lifeguards in Waikiki helped to revive a visitor who nearly drowned Wednesday afternoon.
The nephew of a 51-year-old noticed his uncle floating face down near the shoreline when they were swimming.
That's when lifeguards realized something was wrong.
"When I came to the scene, he was already out of the water -- no pulse," said lifeguard Chris Gagnon. "Started compressions. Partners came and we did what we normally do."
Emergency Medical Service workers performed two cycles of CPR to revive the man. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
