Joseph Matuga
The Honolulu medical examiner's office has identified the man killed in a head-on crash in Wahiawa last Thursday.
The man was identified as 61-year-old Joseph Matuga of Waialua. The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.
On Oct. 25 at around 3:30 p.m., there was a head-on crash on Kamehameha Highway between the Dole Plantation and Haleiwa.
Investigators say a Volkswagen bug was traveling toward Haleiwa at a high rate of speed when it crossed over the center line and collided with a Chevy compact vehicle.
Officers say the impact from the collision was so intense, the Volkswagen split in half.
The driver of the Volkswagen was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to police.
Four other victims from Japan and Switzerland were taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.
