Viaduct fire brings down child support mainframe
CSEA unable to post payments, update incoming client information
The communication line used by the Child Support Enforcement Agency to access the system mainframe was disabled when a fire broke out in the airport viaduct area, according to the state attorney general.
As a result of the fire, about 200 feet of communication lines were destroyed.
Without these communication lines, the Child Support Enforcement Agency is unable to update any incoming client information or post any payments.
The attorney general says this situation will only be remedied when the communication lines have been repaired and the system mainframe brought back online.
As repairs are being made as soon as possible, the Child Support Enforcement Agency cannot say with the system mainframe will be able to be accessed. Officials anticipates a delay of one day.
All persons who normally receive child support payments at or around this time of the month should expect a short delay in receiving the electronic transfer of their support payments.
The Information and Communications Services Division is working in tandem with Oceanic Time Warner Cable to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
Hawaiian Telcom owns the fiber optic cable that was burned in the fire. The company is working to fix the problem. Other carriers like Oceanic Time Warner Cable were affected.
