The state Department of Land and Natural Resources says a marine salvage company will begin removal Thursday of a 53-foot sailing vessel that was grounded off the reef near Keehi Lagoon Park.

The "Pairadice" went aground late Friday night on Dec. 28, 2012 and has a hole in its hull.

The salvage company will bring the vessel to a dirt area at Keehi Small Boat Harbor for preparation for disposal.

It's not known if crews will be able to get the vessel off in one piece so the work may last through the end of the week and through the weekend.
