Vehicle crash in Makiki puts moped driver in critical condition

Driver of other car arrested for driving under influence

A 22-year-old moped driver is fighting for his life Saturday morning, after colliding with a car.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of Nehoa and Ualakaa Streets in Makiki.

Police said the moped driver was driving Ewa-bound on Nehoa, when the car pulled out from a side street and struck him.

Paramedics transported the victim to the local trauma center in critical condition.  He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested for driving under the influence.
