The medical examiner's office identified the man who died in a 2-car collision on Kaukonahua Road Friday as 52-year-old Kenton Kuwada from Waialua.
Kaukonahua Road on Oahu's north shore was re-opened just after 2 p.m. Friday after a fatal collision between two trucks caused its closure.
The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. Friday near the S-turn at 65-265 Kaukonahua Rd.
Traffic investigators said that the driver of a blue pickup truck may have fallen asleep before crossing the center line and striking a Toyota truck head-on.
Fire rescue personnel had to extricate two passengers from one of the trucks using hydraulic machine.
Two separate units of paramedics transported three people to Queen's medical center.
Kuwada was transported in critical condition, he later died at the hospital.
According to traffic investigator tally, he is the 50th traffic fatality on Oahu this year.
Another man in his 40's and a woman were taken in serious condition.
The windy north shore road is closed from Schofield to Thompson Corner. Traffic is being rerouted to Kamehameha Highway.
