The U.S. Marshals Service said officers located and arrested 40-year-old Jim Alan Balicanta of Wailuku Friday for 27 counts of first-degree sexual assault and 25 counts of third-degree sexual assault.

Balicanta was a band teacher at an intermediate school in Wailuku.

The sexual assaults occurred over a three year period before the juvenile victim came forward this January with the allegations.

Balicanta is currently being held at the county jail on a $750,000 bail.
